What information does the survey provide?
Country, county and Local Authority area information for:
- Activity levels in sport and active recreation
- Levels of volunteering in sport
- Satisfaction levels for available sports opportunities
What is the survey?
- The largest single survey of sport and active recreation ever undertaken in Europe
- Provides greater details about sports participation than any previous research
- Over 350,000 people surveyed between Oct 05 and Oct 06 including at least 1,000 people in each of the Local Authorities in Hampshire
- Commissioned by Sport England and conducted by Ipsos MORI
What will we do with the results?
The results provide:
- New and accurate baseline measures for levels of participation in sport and active recreation and volunteering
- An accurate indication over time of how sporting Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is (n.b. the Survey will be repeated in 2008/09 and again in 2011/12)
The results will enable us to:
- Target our resources and monitor the effectiveness of our work more strategically
- Identify any gaps in provision
- Address any barriers to access
