Family Learning
Families learning and having FUN together!
Hampshire Learning‘s Family Programmes Team manage and develop family programmes across Hampshire, working in partnership with schools, children’s centres, libraries, museums and voluntary organisations.
About Family Learning
Family learning takes place among family members and friends, including parents, grandparents and carers. Programmes are designed to help adults and children learn new skills together in an enjoyable way.
The programmes are structured to help parents and carers to be more active in supporting their children’s learning both at school and at home.
Wider Family Learning Programmes
These are used as an opportunity to engage families by providing a positive shared learning experience. Programmes can focus on a particular theme or activity such as pottery, healthy eating or messy play. The programmes may take the form of a short workshop leading on to a ten hour programme.
Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy Programmes (FLLN)
These aim to help parents and carers understand how literacy and numeracy are taught so that they can support their children’s learning. Programmes for parents and carers take place at various settings throughout the county. The programmes vary according to the age of the children. Parents have the opportunity to gain qualifications in literacy and numeracy and advise on progression into further learning or employment.
