Sport Unlimited Funding – apply now - deadline 30th June 2010
Sport Hampshire & IOW is seeking applications for Sport Unlimited (SU) funding from not for profit and statutory organisations to deliver sporting activities to young people in Hampshire & the Isle of Wight.
The purpose of SU is to support the Government’s ‘5 hour offer’ by increasing opportunities for young people aged 11 to 19 years to take part in regular sport and activity outside of the school day.
The aim of the programme is to target ‘semi-sporty’ young people - those that may be doing some PE and sport in school but aren’t yet a member of a sports club or taking part in activity in a community setting.
The main three objectives for SU activities are to:
provide activities that young people have expressed an interest in
ensure that participants attend regularly (at least 6 sessions)
have clear exit routes in place so that participants are able to continue taking part after the SU sessions have come to an end.
What must each project deliver?
Projects must show that young people have been involved and consulted
Projects must target young people aged between 11 and 19 years
Projects should primarily, but not exclusively, target ‘semi-sporty’ young people.
Projects must establish new activities, build on and extend current provision or enhance existing good quality provision, thereby creating additional provision.
Projects must focus on motivating each participant to attend regularly and take part in at least 60% of sessions run.
Activities must run between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2011
Activities should be delivered in a block of 8 to 10 sessions, typically one hour per week for 8 to 10 weeks
What will be funded
There are a wide range of sports and activities that are eligible for funding (see Guidelines for Applicants). However, these do not include activities such as walking or cycling to school.
SU funding can be used to cover the costs of the activity such as coaching fees and travel expenses, facility hire, equipment and training. A full list of eligible and ineligible project costs are outlined in the Guidelines for Applicants.
Value for money will be one of the criteria against which applications are assessed. Applicants should give careful consideration to hourly coaching rates and proportional expenditure on items such as marketing, equipment and travel.
