Volunteering

Nationally, sport relies on 1.5 million volunteers, officials, coaches, administrators and managers. Volunteers are key to the success of sport in Hampshire & IOW, helping to drive participation and physical activity at a variety of levels.

There are many routes into volunteering:

  1. Contact a local club - if you are interested in a particular sport
  2. Contact your local Volunteer Centre. They help match individuals seeking volunteer roles to local opportunities.
  3. The Step Into Sport scheme helps 14-19 year olds get involved in volunteering in sport.
  4. 16-25 year olds in North Hampshire can contact- vinvolved, the national youth volunteering scheme set up to inspire a new generation of young people to get involved in volunteering and community action.
  5. 16-25 year olds in South Hampshire can contact Solent Youth Action - one of 152 projects across England delivering the vinvolved programme.
  6. Do-it.org is the national database of all volunteering opportunities - for all ages and all opportunities - from sport, to the arts, working with animals and the elderly. Search for opportunities in your area.
